Welcome to Osprey Village- A Poem by Sandy Chance

By Sandy Chance

Welcome to Osprey Village, next to the preserve,
Where over-55 folks daily observe
Critters chatter, flap, and quack
In tidy lines or one big pack.

The ducks parading in tidy rows,
While squirrels put on climbing shows.
No one tells them what or why—
They just arrive beneath the morning sky.

In Osprey Village, past the gate,
Where folks are wise and ducks are great,
The squirrels play games from tree to tree,
While sandhill cranes march proud and free.

The humans stroll or cruise in carts
With neighborly and cheerful hearts.
They wave hello, enjoy the breeze
And think of all their memories.

The bunnies bounce in brown disguises.
The birds all chirp in different sizes.
The critters think they run the place.
The humans just provide the space!

Each evening as the sun dips low,
To the quiet pond the ducklings go.
They waddle there from near and far
Past canals, gates, streets, and cars.

The animals think they are in command
With twitching tails, and beaks they stand,
But everyone here knows the score…..

It’s Osprey life! Who could ask for more?
